| The TASIS School in Dorado, also
known as TASIS Dorado, is a private, nonsectarian,
coeducational day school, which has English as its language of instruction
and is affiliated with the The American School in Switzerland
(TASIS) Schools in Europe and sponsored by the Sabanera
Dorado Educational Foundation, a not for profit Puerto
Rican corporation.
TASIS Dorado opened for its first academic year in August 2002,
as a school for youngsters in Pre-Kindergarten through Third Grade.
For the 2003-2004 academic year the school added a Pre Pre K (three
years old) Program and a Fourth and Fifth Grade. The school plans
to grow gradually adding one grade level every year until it reaches
the twelfth grade by the 2010-2011 academic year. Upon the full
development of the physical plant the school should reach a total
enrollment of approximately eight hundred students.
The Master Plan of development for TASIS Dorado provides for all
the physical plant facilities and services required for the implementation
of its demanding primary, elementary, middle school, and high school
college preparatory educational program. The comprehensive sports,
extracurricular activities and after school program has been developed
to meet the needs of all its students. A summer school program is
offered with an English immersion program; hands on mathematics,
science, and humanities activities; and an active physical development
program.
TASIS Dorado is situated within the luscious grounds
of the Sabanera Dorado residential community in the outskirts of
Dorado, a town fifteen miles west of San Juan. The TASIS Dorado
campus consists of approximately 20 acres of beautifully landscaped
land by the main entrance of the Sabanera Dorado residential community.
The school will be housed in a building complex masterfully planned
and designed by one of Puerto Rico's leading architects.
