Uniforms
All TASIS Dorado students are required to wear the school uniform appropriate for the grade level and activity. Uniforms may be purchased from Uniforms Outlet, Inc., in Puerto de Tierra in Old San Juan, and from Lands End online. Uniforms Outlet representatives visit the school in July.
Elementary School Uniforms
Formal Uniform
Students in PPK - 5th Grade wears a light blue or yellow collared polo shirt with the school logo, paired with navy blue shorts, pants, skirts or skorts. Dresses are also available. Skirts, skorts, Bermuda shorts and dresses must be knee-length, and pants may not be jeans or cargo pants. A navy blue, solid jacket with the school logo is preferred. Socks must be white, navy blue, black or red. Leather-topped shoes (escolares) are to be either black, navy blue or brown. Heavy boots, athletic shoes/sneakers, and sandals are not permitted with the formal uniform.
PE Uniform
Children in Grades PPK-1st have PE scheduled three times per week, and children in 2nd-5th Grades have PE scheduled two times per week. Students wear the PE uniform to school on their scheduled PE days.
The Elementary PE uniform is navy shorts or navy gym pants with the school logo and a blue t-shirt with the school logo or a special activity t-shirt from the current academic year. Sneakers or athletic shoes are required and may not have wheels.
Field Trip Uniform
Elementary students wear a red field trip t-shirt, shorts, athletic shoes or hiking shoes when the nature of the field trip (e.g. hiking trips and sports events) demands it. For cultural, musical, film, or other artistic performance field trips students wear the regular school uniform of polo and navy slacks or skirt. The field trip t-shirt is available in the TD Book Store.
Secondary School Uniforms
6th - 8th Grade students wear a light blue or yellow button-down shirt or blouse with the school logo. Short-sleeved shirts are most practical, but long-sleeved shirts are permitted.
9th - 11th Graders wear a white button-down shirt with the school logo.
Seniors wear a button-down shirt in their class color, with their class logo.
All Girls wear navy blue slacks, skirts or skorts. Slacks must fit well, and skirts and skorts must be knee-length. If the shirt is tucked in and the pants have belt loops, a plain black belt must be worn.
All Boys wear navy blue slacks with a plain black belt (the shirt must be tucked in). The pants may not be baggy, low on the hips or overly long. Cargo pants are not permitted.
Socks must be white, black or navy blue. Shoes must be leather-topped flats in black or navy blue. Athletics shoes, boots, and other shoes may not be worn with the formal uniform.
Hair must be clean and neatly combed at all times. Boys with hair over shirt collar must pull it back or get a haircut. Girls may wear one small earring in each ear and no more than three bracelets per arm. Boys may not wear earrings and may wear no more than three bracelets per arm. No other body piercings or visible tattoos are allowed. Brightly colored nail polishes, glitter, makeup and hoop, or dangly earrings are not allowed. Hats, caps, and sunglasses can only be used during approved activities and are never to be worn indoors.
All uniform clothing must be neat and well fitted. Sloppy clothing and rolled up trousers or those with outside pockets with zippers or tabs are not acceptable. Students are not permitted to wear clothing or accessories that promote alcohol or have political slogans or inappropriate messages. The School Uniform should be worn with pride in our school. Any defacing of the school uniform or logo is considered unacceptable behavior.
PE Uniform
All secondary students wear a blue t-shirt with the school logo or a special activity t-shirt from the current academic year, long blue athletic pants with the school logo, white socks, and sneakers/athletic shoes. Students wear the full P.E. uniform to school on days they have P.E. scheduled. Anyone who wishes to wear sports shorts during the actual PE class must wear them under the long sports pants. The shorts must be navy blue with a hem no higher than four inches above the knee.
