What Sets Us Apart

Two TASIS Dorado Students pass onto the second round of the AMC competition
Posted 03/05/2018 01:56PM
This year, 30 TASIS Dorado students participated in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC), which is the first contest in a competition series leading to the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO). From the USAMO participants, students are chosen for the USA Team to compete in the prestigious International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the premier international high school level problem-solving contest.

We are proud to announce that our two TASIS Dorado top-scoring students, ENRIQUE RIVERA FERRAIOULI (AMC 10A) and to ERIC CARLSON (AMC 12A) have been invited to take the American Invitational Mathematical Examination (AIME), which is equivalent to passing onto the second round of the AMC.

The AIME is a challenging exam offered for those who excelled on the AMC 10 or AMC 12 exams. The AIME is a 15 question, 3-hour examination, each answer is an integer number between 0 to 999. The questions on the AIME are much more difficult than those on the AMC 10 and AMC 12 competitions. Top scoring students on the AIME are invited to take the USAMO or USAJMO.

More than 6,000 schools and 300,000 students participated in the MAA AMC program. Students who perform exceptionally well on the AMC 10/12 in high school will be invited to participate in the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).

Congratulations to ENRIQUE & ERIC, and kudos to their amazing coach MR. JOSÉ "CHEO" SANTOS. Good luck tomorrow on the AIME! #BearPride #AMC #AIME
