The TASIS School in Dorado is joining other institutions around the world to explore using 3D printed splitters that allow multiple COVID-19 patients to access a single ventilator to combat the coronavirus in Puerto Rico.

The TASIS School in Dorado is following the CDC recommendation of planning and preparing for the possibility of a community-level outbreak of COVID-19 or any community pandemic requiring the suspension of classes for an extended period. The following document outlines our plan for approaching online and off-campus learning for our PPK-12th grade students. This plan is differentiated based on the age range of our students, and if ever needed to be implemented, there may need to be adjustments depending on circumstances.

TASIS Dorado Athletics presented its 2020 Basketball & Soccer Tournament hosted by the Class of 2020 on January 29, 30, 31, and February 1, were 75 teams came to play in the Bear Den!

Juliette Osguthorpe, TASIS Dorado class of 2021, is serving as a U.S. Senate Page in Washington, D.C. while attending the Congressional Page School Program for a semester. She is interning for Senator Mike Lee of Utah. Yesterday, we watched Juliette live on C-Span2 as she delivered the handwritten questions from Senators to Chief Justice John Roberts during the impeachment proceedings. She is scheduled to work the late shift today, so we may see more of her on TV!

It's a good day to be a Bear! TASIS Dorado is proud to announce that six members of the Class of 2020 have been selected as candidates for the prestigious U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Congratulations to Alejandro Araque, Enrique Carrasco, Sophia Duchateau, Fabián García-Nolla, Zoe García, and Eva Soler-Cruz. Each year, about 5,000 graduating seniors nationwide are chosen based on their SAT and ACT scores. As many as 161 graduating seniors are then named Presidential Scholars. Students must be invited to apply for the program.

Today officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Three TASIS Dorado seniors, ENRIQUE CARRASCO, SOPHIA DUCHATEAU, and ZOE GARCÍA were named semifinalists. These academically talented seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered next spring.

Juliette Osguthorpe '21, a high school student in TASIS Dorado, Puerto Rico, will study Chinese (Mandarin) in Taiwan for the summer through a National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) scholarship. On Friday, May 31, 2019, 42 students donned caps and gowns on a beautiful evening at the TASIS Dorado Performing Arts Center. Awards were distributed, diplomas nicely presented, and our most recent graduates became our 9th Alumni class. The impressive list of colleges to which these students were accepted is a testament to their hard work and talents. We congratulate our dear class of 2019 on completing the final steps in their journey at TASIS Dorado and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!

The TASIS Dorado Bear Trek Jr. and Bear Trek Programs, in partnership with Invention Playground® and Camp Invention®, are a dynamic combination of hands-on exploration and pure fun. Designed for students from PPK to Kinder and 1st to 5th grade who wish to explore, build, and innovate while strengthening their language skills in a safe and relaxed environment. Through teamwork and engaging problem-solving tasks, students participate in a varied program of age-appropriate, hands-on, creative activities. Mornings are English-immersion and afternoons are Spanish-immersion. The TASIS Dorado campus is ideal for children to explore our beautiful surroundings while feeling safe and secure with their friends and teachers. Students may enroll for 1-4 weeks, with discounts available for siblings.

ALUMNI IN THE NEWS JORGE "JAY" RIVERA HERRANS TASIS Dorado Alumnus - Class of 2016 Playwright, Composer, Lyricist, and Actor The University of Notre Dame's Film, Television, and Theatre major Jorge "Jay" Rivera-Herrans, wrote and stars in the new musical "Stupid Humans" which premiered yesterday, February 21st, at The University of Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

TASIS DORADO MARINE BIOLOGY SUMMER PROGRAM is a one-week program for students currently in grades 3 - 5. The program is focused on exploring the organisms of our coastal ecosystems. Students will complete fish counts of the reef, seagrass surveys, and study the biodiversity of our coastal reefs. Students will snorkel and swim, as well as work in the Marine Biology Program Laboratory at the University of Puerto Rico.
