Update on School Closure Plans

Dear TASIS Dorado Parents and Caregivers,

Thank you for your support during these first six days of distance learning at TASIS Dorado! We know you have new responsibilities and challenges and it hasn't been an easy time for anyone. You, your children, and your families are in our thoughts and prayers every day.

In the midst of this fast-changing landscape, all of us at TASIS Dorado are rapidly adding to our repertoire and skill set as educators. This has been a huge shift for our teachers, who are working incredibly hard. The TASIS Dorado spirit is amazingly strong and resourceful!

Although we would like to return to normal as soon as possible, we must of course follow the dictates and guidance of the government and healthcare experts. At this time, we do not have any information about when the lockdown will be lifted. Therefore, we believe that the responsible and prudent thing to do is to continue our distance learning program for at least another week, March 30-April 3.

This decision will take us up to the Spring Break period, during which we will evaluate our next steps. If everyone is allowed to return to their place of work after Easter, we could possibly restart classes on April 13. We will certainly keep you informed!

It seems hard to believe that just two weeks ago, we were only days away from the Spring Musical, preparing for Spirit Week, and meeting with parents to finalize details for our experiential learning trips to Spain, France, Washington DC, and Japan. How quickly everything has changed!

If you feel like you've been on a rollercoaster of emotions, you might find this article from Harvard helpful.

We invite you to keep posting your photos on Instagram with the tag caption @tasisdorado so that we can share it on our page. In this way, we stay connected and celebrate what's happening while we are quarantined. Stay tuned for more information about Virtual Spirit Week! Lastly, please continue to celebrate with us all the amazing colleges our students are being accepted to!

We have all accomplished a lot these past six days! I sincerely appreciate you--our incredible TASIS Dorado students and families. You are amazing people and your kind messages have made a huge difference. We are inspired by your creative letters, pictures, and videos that show how you are learning and caring for yourselves and others. These actions reflect our TASIS Dorado Core Values in the broader community. We miss our students very much and we will do all we can to maintain close connections with them during this school closure.

We wish you continued peace, health, strength, and courage. We are here for you if you need anything.

Un fuerte abrazo,

Timothy Howard, Ed.D.
Head of School ║TASIS Dorado
